How it works

  1. Pick a shift

Each activity lists its shifts, how many places are left and who else is going.

  2. Sign up with your number

The first time, add your name, email and date of birth and make a 4-digit PIN. After that, your number and PIN are all it takes.

  3. Show up, then tell us how it went

Get there a little early. After your attendance is marked, write a short note in My sign-ups. Once the Sceen team reads it, your certificate and hours are ready.

Volunteer guidelines

  • Be on time. Get there a little before your shift starts.
  • Follow the host team's lead on the day. They know the place and the plan.
  • Dress for the activity. If there's anything specific, it's on the activity's page.
  • Be kind and patient with everyone you meet, especially children and older people.
  • Only sign up for shifts you can keep. If you can't make it, drop the shift from My sign-ups as early as you can and tell us why. After a no-show, you can't sign up for any Sceen activity for 6 months.
Who
Anyone aged 16 or older. If you're 16 or 17, bring a letter signed by a parent or guardian.
Pay
Most activities are unpaid. If a host offers a stipend, food or travel, it's on the activity.
Certificate
After your shift, write a short note in My sign-ups. Once it's approved, your certificate is ready, with a code anyone can check.

Sign-up rules

These apply to every activity on this page and on sceen.me/dhaatu. You agree to them each time you sign up.

Who can sign up

  • You need to be 16 or older. We ask for your date of birth the first time you sign up.
  • If you're 16 or 17, bring a letter signed by a parent or guardian saying you can volunteer.
  • Some activities are only for volunteers aged 18 or older. The activity and the sign-up form say so.
  • Your date of birth, phone number and email are never shown on this page. Only your first name and last initial appear next to the shift.

Waitlists

  • When a shift is full, you can join its waitlist.
  • If someone drops, the first person waiting moves up on their own, and we email you.

Dropping a shift

  • Only sign up if you're sure you can come. The host plans the day around every volunteer.
  • If you can't make it, drop the shift in My sign-ups as early as you can and tell us why.
  • If the reason is valid and you tell us well before the shift, it counts as cancelled.
  • If you don't turn up, don't give a valid reason, or tell us too late, it counts as a no-show.

After a no-show, you can't sign up for any Sceen activity for 6 months.

One activity a day

  • You can sign up for one activity a day. Two shifts of the same activity on one day are fine.
  • You can wait on more than one waitlist for the same day. Once you get a confirmed place, we take you off the others for that day.

If you drop a confirmed place, you can't sign up for another activity that day.

Questions

Can I sign up for more than one activity?

Yes, on different days. You can sign up for one activity a day, though two shifts of the same activity on one day are fine. Your profile works for every activity on this page, so after the first time it's just your number and PIN.

How will I know if I get off the waitlist?

If someone drops, the first person waiting moves up on their own, and we email you. Your pass is then in My sign-ups.

Can't make it any more?

Drop the shift from My sign-ups as early as you can, and tell us clearly why. If the reason is valid and you tell us well before the shift, it counts as cancelled. If you don't turn up, don't give a valid reason, or tell us too late, it counts as a no-show, and you can't sign up for any Sceen activity for 6 months. Your place goes to the next person waiting.

How do I get a certificate?

After your shift, once the host team marks your attendance, write a short note in My sign-ups: how it went, and any feedback. The Sceen team reads it, then your certificate appears there. Each certificate has a code anyone can check on this site, which helps if your college asks for proof.

How do hours and badges work?

Every approved shift adds its hours to your total in My sign-ups. Badges come on their own: ✨ Debut for your first shift, 🧭 Pathfinder at 5 shifts, 🤝 Dependable for 3 shifts with the same host, 🌟 Leader at 50 hours and 🏆 Headliner at 100. Your top badge shows next to your name on the shifts you join.

Will my name be shown?

Your first name and last initial show next to the shift you pick, so others can see who's going. Your phone number, email and date of birth are never shown.

Why does one activity send me to another page?

Some hosts, like Dhaatu Puppet Theater, run their own sign-up page with Sceen. Their card links straight there.

I forgot my PIN.
