What You Do As A Volunteer

Venue Details
Know Before You Go
The house rules for match day, condensed from the official fan guidelines.
- Maintain complete silence once inside, step outside if you need to talk
- Phone on silent (vibration off too), no calls or audio/video playback
- Cheer only for player intros, team walk-ins, end of a match, or when the host prompts you, never mid-game
- Keep reactions neutral: no gasps, pointing at boards, or discussing positions
- Never assist a player: no suggesting moves, signaling, or showing analysis on your phone
- No flash photography, and don't lean over boards for a shot
- Wait for the player's game and media commitments to finish before asking for a photo or autograph
- Bring the energy: cheer loud, celebrate every win, support with passion
- Lead the fan chants, join activities, and check out sponsor experiences
- Follow the big screens and commentary, keep walkways clear for others
- Snap photos and videos, tag @AmericanGambits and the Global Chess League
- Respect supporters of every team, keep it positive, no offensive language
- If players visit, form an orderly queue and keep it brief so everyone gets a turn
- Supervising kids? Keep them close and away from running in crowded spots
- Heading back to the Playing Hall: phone to silent, finish your chat, save the cheers

Fixtures
Every American Gambits match at The Lalit Ashok.
Be at the venue 1 hour before your match and you're free to leave 1 hour after it ends, unless the volunteer coordinators communicate a change on ground.
Pick Your Match Slots
Slot selection opens Sept 3, 9:00 PM IST.
- Community volunteers can hold up to 5 match slots per phone number; coordinators have no limit
- You can add only one child as a “Plus One” per slot, and they must be under 18 — age is checked at the gate
- Please don't add other adults as plus ones — anyone 18 or older signs up with their own phone number
- Every adult signs up with their own phone number, joins the WhatsApp group, and comes on ground to volunteer
FAQ
Can we bring children under 18 years of age?
Yes. Under 16 needs 1 guardian per child. Between 16 and 18, they can bring an acknowledgement letter from a parent or guardian instead.
When do we need to reach the venue?
1 hour before the match starts.
When can I leave?
45 minutes to 1 hour after the match ends.
How do I collect the match pass for the volunteer?
At the gate, from one of the Gambits Gang volunteers.
What will we do as volunteers?
Wear the Gambits Gang jersey, carry or wear some supporter merch, and cheer for the players before and after the match.
Can we meet the players up close?
The winning chant happens with the players. Post-match, once media commitments are done, players may come over to the Gang if they'd like. Attend 3 or more matches and you get a signed jersey. Attend 5 or more and you get a meet and greet.
